Uma Visão Sombria
O Espelho de Galadriel
Descendo uma longa escadaria, a Senhora entrou na profunda depressão verde, por onde corria murmurante o riacho prateado que saía da fonte na colina. Ao fundo, sobre um pedestal baixo esculpido como uma árvore ramificada, erguia-se uma bacia de prata, larga e rasa, e ao lado dela, um jarro de prata.
Com água do riacho, Galadriel encheu a bacia até a borda e soprou sobre ela. Quando a água se acalmou, ela falou:
"Aqui está o Espelho de Galadriel", disse ela. "Eu o trouxe aqui para que você possa olhar nele, se quiser."
O ar está muito parado, e o vale está escuro enquanto a Elfa está ao seu lado, alta e pálida. Você olha para o espelho e vê eventos que podem ou nunca acontecer.
"Você deseja olhar agora?", ela pergunta. "Faça como quiser."

A Dark Vision
The Mirror of Galadriel
Down a long flight of steps the Lady went into the deep green hollow, through wich ran murmuring the silver stream that issued from the fountain on the hill. At the bottom, upon a low pedestal carved like a branching tree, stood a basin of silver, wide and shallow, and beside it stood a silver ewer.
With water from the stream Galadriel filled the basin to the brim, and breathed on it, and when the water was still agin she spoke.
"Here is the Mirror of Galadriel," she said. "I have brought you here so that you may look in it, if you will."
The air is very still, and the dell is dark as the Elf lady stands beside you tall and pale. You gaze into the mirror and see events that may or may never be.
"Do you wish now to look?" she asks. "Do as you will."
